Stadium atmosphere in the living room and garden

The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11. For the first time, 48 teams will compete against each other in 104 matches until July 19. The venues are in Canada, Mexico, and the USA. For a great World Cup experience, plenty of goals from your own team are, of course, essential. Good weather, cool drinks, and snacks are naturally part of it as well. To create a genuine stadium atmosphere, the choice of picture and sound equipment is especially important. Suitable home electronics products bring the stadium feeling and shared World Cup experiences directly into the living room or garden.

Big screen or portable solution – each with perfect sound

There is a wide selection available for the perfect picture. The range extends from portable, battery-powered outdoor TVs and large-screen televisions with screen diagonals of up to 2.5 meters to small portable projectors and laser projectors. The latter can even produce images with a diagonal of more than three meters. All these TV sets and projectors create razor-sharp, brilliant, high-contrast images with natural and true-to-life colors. For televisions, the selection ranges from the handy 32-inch size (81 cm), including models for use on the go and outdoors, to the 100-inch powerhouse (254 cm). Projectors also include handy and portable models for use on the go, projecting images onto various surfaces—even a tent wall—in sizes of up to 100 inches (254 cm). Projectors for home use achieve image sizes of up to 130 inches (330 cm). Short-throw projectors are particularly practical, as they require very little distance from the projection surface. Special high-contrast screens and powerful projectors optimized for ambient light make it possible to enjoy impressive images even in bright rooms.

Soundbars are the perfect complement, delivering outstanding audio with surround sound and punchy performance. In many cases, the technology makes it possible to switch the focus of the audio transmission between the live commentary and the ambient sounds—that is, the stadium atmosphere—as desired.

Purchase incentives and practical gadgets

“A major sporting event such as a FIFA World Cup is the perfect opportunity for many people to buy a new, perhaps larger, television or a projector that takes the TV experience to the next level. Current market figures for the first quarter of 2026 show that the trend toward larger screen diagonals continues unabated,” explains Carine Chardon, Managing Director of the industry organization GFU Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH. In Germany, TV sets with screens over 55 inches (140 cm) recorded a 17 percent increase in unit sales between January and March 2026, with revenue up three percent. This means TVs larger than 55 inches already account for 46 percent of revenue, and almost one-third of all televisions sold fall into this product category. For projectors, market figures for the first quarter of 2026 show an 11 percent increase in revenue, while short-throw projectors even recorded a 27 percent increase in revenue over the same period.

“However, the home electronics industry’s offering goes far beyond picture and sound. The selection includes beverage and outdoor refrigerators, ice makers, coolers, power stations for energy supply on the go or in the garden, fans with misting functions for hot days, and slushie makers. This means nothing stands in the way of a perfect and enjoyable football evening,” Chardon continues.
