The HEMIX – Home Electronics Market Index Germany – is the quarterly market survey conducted by GFU in cooperation with NIQ and various market participants. It records revenue, sales volume, and average prices for the entire private home electronics market in Germany – across all segments, from consumer electronics to household appliances.

With the HEMIX, GFU maps a market that shapes the everyday lives of millions: from smartphones to washing machines, from headphones to ovens. For anyone who wants to understand, classify, or shape this industry, it provides a reliable data basis.

HEMIX Q1–4/2025

The German home electronics market closes 2025 on a stable note. With total revenue of 46.9 billion euros, it maintains the previous year’s level. Growth momentum comes from information technology (+8.1%), video game consoles (+19.7%), and small electrical appliances (+3.7%). Traditional consumer electronics (-1.9%) and telecommunications (-2.8%) are showing a slight decline.

The year 2025 over time.

Q1–3/2025: Resilience visible: IT, photography, and gaming grow significantly.

After nine months, the home electronics market is demonstrating its resilience. At 31.47 billion euros, total revenue is now only 0.2% below the previous year. Information technology is up 6.4%, driven by notebooks (+12.8%) and desktop PCs (+34.9%). Action cams (+19.1%) and video game consoles (+27.9%) are among the most dynamic product groups.

Q1-2/2025: Stabilization with clear areas of growth

The first half of 2025 confirms the stabilization of the German home electronics market (-0.9%). While smartphones (-3.5%) and major appliances (-1.4%) are down slightly, individual segments are showing strong momentum: video game consoles are growing by 23.7%, action cams by 11.2%, and the approaching end of support for Windows 10 is driving sales of desktop PCs (+29.1% sales volume).

Q1/2025: Strong segments support the market.

The home electronics market starts 2025 with a slight year-on-year decline (-0.8%), but individual segments are setting clear growth accents. The TV market surprises with a 7.5% increase in revenue, information technology is up 4.5%, and small electrical appliances are growing by 2.8%. Smartphones and video game consoles, by contrast, are declining.
