To strengthen our team in Frankfurt am Main, we are seeking a part or full-time (at least 80%), permanent Communication Specialist (m/f/d) to join our organization as soon as possible, with extensive experience primarily in press and media relations. With a focus on this area and B2B communication, this position offers the opportunity to further position gfu as an industry expert and brand rights holder of IFA, the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances, for the industry and the public.

About us:

Well-known companies in the consumer electronics and household appliance industry are shareholders of gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH. Our aim is to communicate on industry topics, conduct studies and organize events in the interests of these shareholders. The highlight is IFA, a trade show, which takes place annually in Berlin in September. To organize this event, gfu has founded IFA Management GmbH as a joint venture with Clarion Ltd. and works closely with these parties.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead press relations: 
    • Intensive cooperation and contact management with special interest and trade media, agencies and national consumer media
    • Creation of press releases and various media formats, such as interviews or short features 
    • Lead social media strategy with a focus on Linkedin
    • Responsibility for the content on the homepage
  • Continuous development of new media formats for all channels
  • Responsible for the content and organization of the “gfu Insights & Trends” event format (currently once a year)
    • Concept development
    • Speaker acquisition and support 
  • Interface to the marketing and communication teams of IFA Management GmbH  
  • B2B contact management with communication managers in the industry
  • Media & market monitoring
  • Monitoring the international trade show and convention market

Your profile:

  • University degree, ideally in the field of media, communication sciences or journalism.
  • At least five years of professional experience in press or public relations work
  • High interest in topics from the digital, consumer electronics and home appliances sectors, knowledge of economics and market figures.
  • Willingness to network intensively with (specialist) media and in the B2B sector – ideally you have an existing network.
  • Experience in online editing, also in connection with social media platforms 
  • Ability to prepare information for specific target groups
  • Confident handling of Word Press and very good MS Office Skills
  • Experience with video formats as well as a feel for layouts and design are an advantage
  • You are characterized by a hands-on mentality and an independent and proactive way of working
  • High level of commitment, team spirit and loyalty
  • German language skills at native speaker level, very good written and spoken English skills
  • Willingness to travel
