More than two years of the pandemic not only had an immediate impact on the economy. They also hit the trade show business, which above all offers the direct encounter to experience innovations. After a Special Edition in 2020 and cancellation in the following year, IFA 2022 was held again on a large scale: More than 1,100 exhibitors presented themselves to over 161,000 visitors – :inside of whom more than three-quarters were trade visitors. 57 percent of this group came from abroad. As the organizer, we can be more than satisfied with that.
Successful trade fair 2022, prospects for the future
Although this last show was often compared with the 2019 edition, which had a higher number of visitors (245,000), that IFA lasted one day longer and there were no travel restrictions at that time. The 2022 edition had to do without many visitors from the Asian region, especially China. At that time, there were still strict quarantine regulations for travelers returning to their home countries.
On November 18, 2022, a new chapter was opened. Together with the UK-based company Clarion Events Ltd, gfu founded a joint venture that will be responsible for organizing the trade show in the future: IFA Management GmbH. Messe Berlin will from now on provide the grounds under the Radio Tower as a lessor. Those responsible for IFA Management are currently working on a concept that will be presented at the beginning of 2023. So everyone involved will have planning reliability at an early stage. However, the focus will remain on innovations from the consumer and home electronics sectors. We will continue to experience first-class keynotes from top players in the industry and high-profile speakers at IFA. As well as established formats such as the start-up area IFA Next or IFA Global Markets, Europe’s largest B2B sourcing marketplace.
