GFU Consumer & Home Electronics
Eleven leading consumer electronics companies founded GFU in 1973. The name of the organization at that time was also its goal: The Society for the Promotion of Consumer Electronics in Germany. Since then, many companies in the home appliance industry have become GFU’s partners, reflecting the changes in the industry. This also prompted the company name to change to GFU Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH.

Our mission
The GFU was founded in 1973 as a society for the promotion of consumer electronics in Germany and is the brand owner of IFA. Since 2023, IFA has been organised by IFA Management GmbH, a joint venture between Clarion Events and GFU. Today, the industry organisation operates as GFU – Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH. Leading brands from the consumer electronics and home appliance sectors are shareholders of GFU. The aim of the GFU is to organise trade fairs and provide information on trends and developments in the sectors.
Our vision
The successful IFA concept is the basis for sustainable business success in industry and retail. Accordingly, the consistent further development of IFA is and remains an important task for GFU. Together with the international joint venture partner Clarion Events, IFA Management GmbH was therefore founded to consistently orientate IFA towards the future in a constantly changing world. In addition, the GFU will continue to work intensively for the positive development of the sectors.
