Total revenue in the months from January to September amounted to 31.47 billion euros, just 0.2 percent below the previous year’s figure. This continues the trend of noticeable market consolidation that had already begun in 2024. While individual product groups continue to decline slightly, other segments with significant growth are providing positive momentum.

            Spacer · 50 px

Consumer Electronics: stable development with positive highlights

The Consumer Electronics segment remained virtually unchanged in the first three quarters of 2025 compared with the same period of the previous year, with revenue of around 19.6 billion euros (0.0%). Within consumer electronics, the picture was balanced: revenue, at just under 5 billion euros, was only 0.5 percent below the previous year’s figure. Declines in TV sets (–6.9% to around 1.9 billion euros) were offset by gains in high-growth trend segments. Revenue from action cams rose by 19.1 percent to 101 million euros, and media boxes/sticks also increased by 10.3 percent to 101 million euros. Video game consoles were also clearly in positive territory, with growth of 27.9 percent to 478 million euros, making them one of the most dynamic product groups.

In the audio segment, the downward trend continued. The Home Audio segment recorded a decline of 7.7 percent to 432 million euros, while Personal Audio (e.g. headphones) also fell slightly, by –7.5 percent to 93 million euros. By contrast, the accessories business developed positively, particularly headphones and headsets, which achieved revenue growth of 2.4 percent to 856 million euros.

            Spacer · 50 px

Telecommunications: consolidation at a high level

The Telecommunications segment recorded a revenue decline of 2.7 percent to around 9.7 billion euros in the first three quarters of 2025. Smartphones, with a revenue share of more than 8.6 billion euros – the highest-revenue category in this segment – were 2.7 percent below the previous year’s figure. Average selling prices rose slightly, which could indicate continued strong demand for high-quality models. Core wearables also developed only slightly negatively (–1.6%), while traditional telephones and mobile devices continue to lose importance at an increasing rate.

            Spacer · 50 px

Information Technology: noticeable upward trend

After several years of declining results, the Information Technology segment showed a clear recovery in the period from January to September 2025. While small electrical appliances increased their revenue by 1.9 percent to around 5.1 billion euros, major electrical appliances recorded a slight decline of 2.2 percent to around 6.8 billion euros. Products that combine energy efficiency and convenience remained particularly in demand.

“The home electronics market is once again demonstrating its resilience. After years of sometimes significant declines, we are now seeing a phase of stability – and in some areas already noticeable growth momentum. Consumers are investing selectively in quality, innovation and sustainability. This is creating movement in the markets and makes us cautiously optimistic for the coming months,” summarizes Carine Chardon, Managing Director of GFU Home & Consumer Tech, regarding the market situation.

The market figures for the HE industry are collected by GFU Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH together with NIQ and published quarterly in the form of the HEMIX – Home Electronics Market Index. Based on volume and value, the HEMIX shows market development in Germany and serves as the official data basis for the industry.

You can find the complete HEMIX data here: HEMIX

GFU Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH
Carine Chardon (Managing Director)
Tel. 069 509293 411
Email: carine.chardon@gfu.de, marie.vonheyking@gfu.de
Website: gfu.de

NIQ
Andreas Peplinski
Tel. 0911 395–4802
Email:Andreas.Peplinski@nielseniq.com
Website: www.nielseniq.com/

The market for home electronics (HE) products, as represented in the HEMIX, Home Electronics Market Index, continued to stabilize in the first three quarters of 2025.

[19,11,13,21

post-3135","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-market-insights","category-marktinfos","category-studien-analysen","category-studies-analyses
["GET
